We are a group of like-minded people who share a common desire to contribute to a better society. We connected through our passion to give back and have come together to form The Rocket Foundation to multiply our impact.
We aim to leave a better world by supporting underserved communities and individuals and by protecting the environment for future generations.
At The Rocket Foundation, we identify, engage, and support change makers who strive to create and promote a better world. We firmly believe in progress and provide a launch base for visionaries who want to have a positive impact on our planet and society. We fuel the most promising ideas and initiatives to boost their impact on society through providing mentoring, fundraising and coaching.
Where others see problems, we see solutions. Guided by the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, we are active in five main areas: Nutrition, Education, the Economic Model, Equality and the Environment. In order to maximise impact, we support pioneers – true change makers with disruptive ideas – in pushing the limits of the final frontier. Because a small step for mankind can mean a big step for humanity!
We are active in five interconnected impact themes. We believe that innovative solutions already exist, they need to be identified, scaled and promoted.
Around 815 million people go hungry every day. By 2050 there will be almost 3 billion undernourished people in the world. 45 percent of deaths in children under five is caused by poor nutrition. Moreover, at least 400 million people have no basic healthcare and 40 percent lack social protection
Supporting the right solutions to promote and accelerate a change in our eating habits & food culture will have a direct impact on the health of our society and planet. We are looking for innovative and disruptive projects that can radically change the global food and agriculture system (SDG 2) as well as those supporting access to quality healthcare for all (SDG 3).
Over 265 million children are currently out of school. An estimated 617 million children and adolescents of primary and lower secondary school age worldwide – more than 50 per cent – are not achieving minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics.
Providing children with quality education can change their lives and paves the way to solve many of the world’s problems. It is the foundation to breaking the cycle of poverty, reducing (gender) inequality and living a healthier and more sustainable life. We believe that inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all (SDG 4) will improve society. We support changemakers active in this area with a focus on children, in particular those using technologies to scale their positive impact.
Women earn 77 cents for every dollar that men get for the same work. By the end of 2017, 68.5 million people had been forcibly displaced as a result of persecution, conflict, violence or human rights violations.
A peaceful, just and equal society is needed to achieve the 17 SDGs. At the Rocket Foundation, we are looking at projects focused on reducing violence & conflicts (SDG 16), delivering justice, combating corruption and ensuring an inclusive society where gender inequality (SDG 5) and pay gap and income distribution (SDG 10) are reduced. People have to feel safe where they live.
The world’s richest 1 percent, own 45 percent of the world’s wealth. 1 in 5 people in developing regions still live on less $1.90 a day. 736 million people live in extreme poverty.
The Rocket Foundation supports social entrepreneurs who contribute to redefining our economic and development models (SDG 8, 9 and 11), our consumption and lifestyle choices (SDG 12) and fighting poverty (SDG 1). Their projects help to drive sustainable and inclusive growth in the communities in which they work.
CO2 emissions must drop by 45% between 2010 and 2030, and reach net zero by 2050. As much as 40 percent of the ocean is heavily affected by pollution, depleted fisheries, loss of coastal habitats and other human activities. 8 millions tons of plastic are dumped into the oceans each year. 13 million hectares of forest are destroyed every year (equivalent to the size of England).
There is no planet B: according to the scientific community, measures need to be taken now to protect our environment and planet. The Rocket Foundation will support projects that provide innovative and scalable solutions to SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation), to SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy), to SDG 13 (Climate action), to SDG 14 (Life below water) and to SDG 15 (Life on Land).
