In May this year The Rocket Foundation launched a project with Childs i Foundation to equip community volunteers with bicycles, smart phones, data and PPE. This was partly a response to the huge increase in demand for support during the lockdown period, but also run as a pilot to measure the effectiveness of bicycles and increased connectivity in their delivery model.
The pilot reached 645 children in 174 families – 3 times as many vulnerable families could be supported proving the effectiveness of bicycles and connectivity as a tool to scale their reach. We are excited to announce that as result of this pilot Child’s i has been able to raise funding to scale the project more than 10 times, expanding into rural areas where the benefits are even greater and further increasing the number of families that they can support and the speed of the assistance that they provide. The use of bicycles and mobile data will be embedded in their model going forward.
We are privileged to be able to partner with such a great organisation and have the opportunity to launch this pilot with them. We look forward to supporting them further as a Rocket Foundation portfolio project.
