In Uganda, 50,000 children are growing up in orphanages. Nearly all have family. Every day, families in crisis or poverty are forced to give up their children in the hope of a better life.
Child’s i Foundation was established to address the root causes of why children end up in orphanages in Uganda. They target an extremely vulnerable and often underserved population identifying and supporting families at risk of separation and strengthening communities with the primary objective of keeping families together.
The Rocket Foundation provides coaching to Child’s’ i and have been fundraising for their activities in Uganda since 2018.
In 2020 The Rocket Foundation funded a pilot project providing bicycles, smart phones and PPE to Child’s i community volunteers to increase their reach. On average, with the equipment provided, the community workers could support three times as many families in need.
As a result of the pilot Child’s i have raised funding to scale the project into rural areas equipping more than 150 volunteers across 13 district – increasing the number of families that they can support and the speed of their assistance.
“The Rocket Foundation has helped Child’s i Foundation launch into our next stage of development, supporting us with critical funds, providing input into our strategy, visiting our project in Uganda and creating partnerships with The Rocket Foundation’s partners to help us achieve our mission for children to grow up in safe and loving families in Uganda. TRF believe wholeheartedly in our mission and we are very proud to be working in partnership with them.”
